Ottawa, ON, (Monday, August 25, 2014) – The Health Action Lobby (HEAL) calls on the Council of the Federation to renew its multi-year commitment to accelerate the pace of health care transformation through the work led by the Health Care Innovation Working Group (HCIWG).
“Building on the promise of the Premiers report From Innovation to Action (2012), which focused on clinical practice guidelines, team-based models of care, health human recourses and generic drugs, there are significant opportunities for system change by strengthening collaboration with providers,” said Mr. Glenn Brimacombe, Co-Chair, HEAL.
On August 28th, the Premiers will receive an update from the HCIWG on three areas of focus: pharmaceuticals, seniors, and appropriateness of care. HEAL looks forward to re-engaging with the HCIWG and move forward as active participants, guided by the principles of better health, better care and better value for Canadians.
“We look forward to learning how the Premiers will continue to work together, and with providers and the federal government, to increase the spread of leading practices in health & health care,” said Dr. Karen Cohen, Co-Chair, HEAL. “Together, there is much that we can accomplish.”
