Ottawa, ON (December 2) – HealthCareCAN applauds today’s release of the Health Action Lobby (HEAL) consensus statement, The Canadian Way: Accelerating Innovation and Improving Health System Performance. It presents a bold vision on how to transform the health system from a bottom performer to the top of the pack.

“HealthCareCAN salutes the hard work and collaboration of HEAL members over the past two years to arrive at the vision presented today,” said Bill Tholl, President and CEO, HealthCareCAN.  “The consensus statement aligns with our vision for a more caring, sustainable, accountable health system through strategic investments in healthcare innovations that help vulnerable Canadians.”

The Nanos poll reflects wide-spread support for investments in home and long-term care, the faster spread of proven practices across the country, a plan for catastrophic drugs and the reporting of comparative successes with all these initiatives. Canadians support federal government leadership in bringing these to reality. Almost 90% of Canadians support a stronger federal leadership role in improving the health system. HealthCareCAN members will continue to play our role in moving Canada to a top-performing nation.
